likely ep is tims first release on tiefschwarzs souvenir label. lead track alike sounds like ivan smagghe jamming with richie hawtin in a warehouse rave in london, skirting a line between futuristic tech house and discerning electro. a live bassline holds down the groove as a trickling bleepy melody develops throughout the track. as more and more layers of elaborate sonic trickery are laid down, a driving snare jacks out the groove further before a series of effects laden breakdowns tighten the tension further and further. cowbells take the second phase of the track ever taughter before the groove emerges into a stabbing hook and pulsating synth noises that drive the dancefloor into blissed out oblivion. subtle vocals tease the ears in the background of the final strung out breakdown, never quite dominating the tune before the jacking bass and kick drop back in. ‘unlike shares a similar vibe for mixing live instruments with plug in madness. live sounding bassline and guitar lines open the track and roll out the groove before the main synth hook takes over. as the track rolls in and out of its breakdowns it lurches between reverb heavy, bleepy chaos and futuristic rhythms. think depeche mode writing an experimental instrumental on the moon in 2012 and youre halfway there. like many french artists these days tim lives and works in london and also collaborates with fellow frenchies ivan smagghe and dante eprom. he first caught the attention of vinyl sleuths with his excellent remix of db (8)s future now in 2004 and now runs his own label marketing music as well as pushing the boundaries of spacey electro flavoured tech house with his own solo material.

the latest release of rocco a.k.a. rodamaal on map dance records is a deep house hit. the track has a strong bass line with a great melody, specialty of the french touch of rocco. remixed by the famous french dj claude monnet it will be a guaranteed hit for the dancefloors. keep your ears open for the future releases of rocco on mr mike&#146,s label.

once again, tuningspork records ventures away from its trademark funky house in exchange for something a little more unexpected. last summer, the label issued >free your mind< (tsextra), a baleraric groove crafted by jay haze and ricardo villalobos. now comes another non-sequitur: >comptine d un autre été: l après-midi< (tsultra), mr. tiersens piano composition reconstructed for the dancefloor by jay. french composer yann tiersen has a minimalist approach that many electronic producers could learn from. his piece (the title of which roughly means >nursery rhyme of another summer: the afternoon<) provides the basis for this melancholy track. djs addicted to hyperbolic effects plugins might hesitate to play this - but those who appreciate subtlety will be rewarded here. tiersens original composition is tastefully manipulated into a track that makes sense in a club context, yet sets itself apart from the usual techno/house fare, providing a rare introspective moment on the dancefloor. and it might be worth mentioning: if you play this track and the floor doesnt fill up with ladies, then it probably means youre djing at a gay club. (not that theres anything wrong with that!)

it hasnt been long time ago since the last coup made by clark and schatz hit the streets but highgrades head-honcho tom clark and the true berlin talent markus schatz allready go for the next round. the original version of >hot choc< makes the start - playfully swinging, the track developes itself into a masterpiece of an easy going groove without being half bad. the french dj and producer tom pooks - well known for this productions on ovum, kompakt and other wellsounding imprints gives >hot choc< a whole lot of jacking energy to take along. he sets the percussive elements free - and rightly so! punch meets hypnotic deepness - perfect! with the hot choc re-edit on the flipside by markus schatz he eventually letting the cat out of the bag. without any detours and in best daniel bell-like mannour he jump into a real inferno made of funky bleeps and weird sounds. delivering with this one more than just another highlight on this release - because last but least it’s the best evidence, you gotta reckon with these two!

ziggy kinders last outing on souvenir proved to be one of the highlights of 2007. bailamos, a record destined to make love to the converging worlds of european techno and south american latin music was hailed by artists like laurent garnier, koze and mike shannon for its mysterious melodies and enveloping percussion while the a-side que pasa maria was championed by anja schneider and radioslave. fans of tiefschwarzs daring souvenir imprint will be in no doubt as to what lies in store for the label’s tenth release. >flipflop crash< is another typically ziggy workout destined for a discerning international dancefloor. disorientating percussion and flanging effects dance around an insistent throbbing bassline while a female vocal whispers in french. the warm melodies layering the track hint at the sultriness of >bailamos< , but this is a continuation not a revisitation and an impressive step forward for ziggys sound. on the flip chilean star pier bucci takes up the remix reigns. after impressing with his ahead-of-its-time familia lp on crosstown rebels in 2005 and last years club bomb hay consuelo, his addition to the souvenir roster is another memorable recruitment with current label remix talents including artists like carl craig, tiefschwarz, shonky, samim, kiki & silversurfer and radioslave. his interpretation adds an injection of urgency to ziggys original, stripping the vocals back to a minimum to make way for an epic delay soaked synth hook. its a remix destined for the end of a night or that perfect plateau of a party when the dancefloor has been moving for hours waiting for a hypnotising melody such as this to sweep it onto another level

the french talent kiko, after releases on different, datapunk, afu ltd and his last album slave of my mind, stay still prolific and do a new 12 on the new french label based in north france called from jupiter recordings. kiko bring us 2 club track with a particular sense of melodies and soulfull. this records aim to be a summer hit.. check the bside, its a sure shot for bc fans
